The Former President's System of Retribution and Reward

Trump's voracious desire for retribution has quickly evolved into a methodical framework. Within the past year, the chief executive's rage and whims have taken on the form of official policies in a manner analogous to past authoritarian regimes. Federal figures who fail to comply are summarily fired and replaced by devotees. Critical officials who confront him face indictment, trial and sanctions. Critics have been categorized under executive orders as “anti-American”, “against faith communities” and “against free markets”, and warned with prosecution as “security threats”.

The Justice System Transformed

All situation involving prosecution of Trump's enemies and leniency for supporters demonstrates its own particular qualities. Yet, regardless of their specific nature, they represent expressions of what has developed as a deliberate method. These incidents are far from random. The administration's cleansing of federal prosecutors and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, coupled with his appointment of devotees in high-level positions, began swiftly, soon assumed a pattern, and has now been molded into a system. DoJ and the FBI have been remade into ideological bodies under his clear orders to implement his wishes. Injustice has been made routine. This is the system of punishment.

Management is more concerned with punishing the President's perceived adversaries than they are with protecting our country's safety.

Internal the Apparatus

The beginnings of this mechanism has been revealed in the court filing of multiple ex- top FBI executives filed in the ninth month in the judicial system in Washington against FBI director Kash Patel and top lawyer another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against the officials for what the accused deemed to be a refusal to demonstrate proper political loyalty”. According to the filing that a former acting director, the former temporary head, recounts a exchange in which he “freely acknowledged the unlawfulness of his conduct”.

He had attempted to defend agency personnel from being fired, the filing alleges. The director informed him that “they” – perceived by him to be the White House and justice department – had ordered him to dismiss anyone who they identified as having been involved in a law enforcement case against Trump. The complaint goes on: “Patel explained that he had to fire the individuals his leaders told him to fire, because his capacity to retain his own job relied on the ouster of the personnel who worked on investigations involving the leader. The director commented that there was no way he or the official could do to stop these or any other firings, because ‘the agency sought to put the leader in prison and he remembers.’” Once the official advised Patel he was violating the bureau's own internal rules, the director supposedly said “he recognized that and he knew the nature of the immediate dismissals were almost certainly improper”.

Widespread Impact

After the director's claimed confession to the official, the DoJ and the Federal Bureau have been gutted and repurposed for Trump's system of punishment. Multiple of the bureau's top officials were dismissed or forced out in the first days of the presidency. Roughly numerous professional attorneys at the department have agreed to a “early exit scheme”. No fewer than several federal prosecutors, such as those in the New York office, stepped down in dissent over what they viewed as political interference in dropping the corruption case against the city leader, Eric Adams, in exchange for his assistance with Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement detentions of foreign nationals. The public integrity section of DoJ, which handles ethical violations, has been diminished to a handful of lawyers. The rights protection unit has been devastated: seventy percent of its staff has departed. One-third of top officials at the justice department have quit. The division implementing environmental law has lost half its supervisors.

Rewards and Punishments

In the mayor's situation, the interim prosecutor for the southern district of New York, she, stepped down in protest against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. A key figure, Trump's “border czar,” appeared as the agent with him on television to declare: “Unless he complies, I'll reappear in New York City.”. Additionally, another figure, formerly the acting deputy attorney general and a former Trump attorney, who brokered the agreement, was granted an judicial position, a potential springboard to the highest court.

The president's protection for crimes perpetrated while in power, granted by the unprecedented ruling of the Republican majority on the judicial body, thus preventing his criminal case over the Capitol riot and safeguarding his electoral prospects for the national vote, is the foundation stone on which he depends to defend his supporters. Given this protection, he has been liberated to enable misconduct. The effect of the judicial ruling permeates his administration and the Republican Party completely. Trump v United States has escalated. Similar to the former president's White House counsel John Dean commented about the Watergate
